How Russian companies in Syria switched from fighting to bodyguard
Julia Al-Abd (Damascus)
Security protection companies have proliferated in Syria with the escalation of military events across the country, and they were legalized by a republican decree in 2013, and the Syrian Ministry of Interior established a special office for such companies, and it is sometimes possible for this office to play the role of those responsible for some tasks.
These companies find themselves many fields of work, as they are used from securing and escorting a car for the wives and children of merchants, to protecting banks, economic events, artistic festivals, and private parties, but this field cover for their work hides many legal and illegal security activities.
The “Syria Files” met with Amin, who is one of the old employees of one of these companies, to talk about some of the secrets of the special operations that his company carries out. With the expansion of the company’s work and the joining of a larger number of workers, we are carrying out protocol services for public and well-known figures who visit Syria informally, as we meet with the delegation from entering the borders until leaving them, and we work to protect them while they are roaming inside the Syrian territories, and during meetings with people often They are from the high command of the army or the intelligence services, and Amin did not disclose any names of those who participated in accompanying her or meeting her during his work.
