Gharib al-Omar (Homs)

The Islamic State “ISIS” inflicted dozens of dead and wounded in the ranks of Iranian militias and the Syrian army yesterday (Sunday) in the Sukhna desert.

Our correspondent reported that a group of Iranian militias was installing new military points in the vicinity of the Al-Sukhnah desert, while elements of the organization were waiting for the movements of the Iranian militias, and as soon as the weather began to fluctuate and fog covered the area, the organization launched a violent attack on the militia points, which turned into a hot battle. They used individual weapons and shoulder-fired projectiles, as the organization killed nearly ten people and wounded others from the Fatemiyoun militia and the Palestinian Al-Quds Brigade, according to preliminary statistics.

After the continuous attacks, the Iranian militias sought help from the Syrian army forces in the vicinity of the area, which in turn sent military reinforcements from the city of Al-Qaryatayn to the site of the clashes, in addition to reinforcements that arrived from the Qatirji militia with their military vehicles, and the battles between the two sides renewed for hours, amid heavy losses from the Syrian army and militias.

It is noteworthy that the Russian forces deployed in the vicinity of the Sukhna desert did not participate in the military operations, with the exception of reconnaissance operations.

Russian Air Force planes and the Syrian helicopter are still roaming the area, after the losses these militias incurred in the Homs desert in its eastern countryside.

ISIS fighters take advantage of bad weather, especially fog. To attack the Iranian militias that the organization usually stalkes in the Badia, at a time when the organization mastered hit-and-run attacks, due to its experience in the Badia regions, where it has been spread for three years.
